[Letter from Governor Hugh Palliser to M. d'Angeac & chevalier D'herlye]..B950:Letter in which Palliser informs the French commanders of various violations on the Island of Newfoundland contrary to the Treaty of Paris by the inhabitants of the Ilses of St. Pierre & Miquelon. It has been brought to his attention that there are cutting a great deal of timber for uses other that those permitted in the treaty, hunting, illegale trading with Micmacs from Nova Scotia and even building houses where a certain numbers of them plan to pass the winter months. He includes a list of such French inhabitants found on Newfoundland which includes amongst them Michel Léger, who'll become the ancestors of the Léger of Louisiana. He strongly urge Governor d'Angeac to take the appropriate action to put an end to these practises.
